Despite my disclaimer earlier that resolutions wouldn’t kick in until the work week, it’s been a pretty successful week.

Last year, I had three “restrictive” resolutions: Don’t do this, No more of that, etc. All three had been broken by kickoff of the Rose Bowl. While I was able to regroup and find some success, I also found that telling myself “No” is not the best way to go about achieving change.

This year my resolutions are more “aspirational”: Do more of this, Be more like this, etc. So far it has been a breeze AND a great feeling of accomplishment even after only a week. Each and every night I have looked back on the day’s events and identified a win. Truth be told, I have been thinking about these changes for a few months, since the Temple Burn. I think the extra time helped internalize what my goals for the coming year really are.

Here’s wishing you luck on your New Year’s resolutions.

And thus begins my attempt to send more content to my blog instead of the whirlpool of Twitter or the cesspools of Spicealley. I’m trying to define a separation for what kinds of “content” I generate on my various digital haunts. Oh, sure the massively cross-linked auto-update plugins will shovel this crap around to various places, but I think if I can develop the right mindset, I can use this thing for more creative purposes than just Achewood comics and links to my latest mixes.

We’ll see. After all, it’s only January 4th after a crazy New Year’s Four Day Weekend. My mind and body are still yelling “Payback’s a bitch” at me.
